So I’m sitting at my computer working on stuff, and decided to turn the TV on for background noise.

It happened to be on Southpark at the moment, and the first thing they said is “You’re right! No one gives a shit about Eric Roberts!”

Is anyone else completely depressed by society these days? I get insulted by people with juvenile minds, telling me I have a meaningless life. People ask questions that could easily be answered by 1) common sense, 2) 20 seconds on Google, 3) punching yourself in the face, 4) any combination thereof. Should just move to Australia and get away from this pathetic waste of human life.

So I’m working on a control panel for my new business portfolio site. I decided to create it from scratch so I could make it work exactly how I want without having to learn a crazy template system or any of that other integrating-a-CMS nonsense, and so I could add in some other features I want (like a directory of other designers and such for networking or outsourcing).

Anyway, I’m trying to set up the first feature I need, which is the login / permissions system, since I’d like to keep the public out of my control panel. Well for the longest time I’m sitting here arguing with it wondering why “Database could not be found”.

Well let’s just say that the database user I was trying to use didn’t have permissions to access that database, because I forgot to give it permission.

In essence, I’m dumb sometimes.

Sooo, yeah!

Today was a good day. Spent the afternoon being lazy, which I shouldn’t have, but I slept too late to really get anything accomplished. I need to fix that. Picked up dinner for my parents, then left to pick up Brenna and head up to Wednesday Night Ride. Wore the full leathers today, too, just for shits and giggles.

The ride was a good time. Except for the crazy separation that happened due to some unfortunate intersection miscommunications, and a guy dumping his bike (he and the bike are ok, it was very minor). However we all ended back up at the gas station we mentioned before leaving (whew!), and off we were.

We bounced around downtown for a while, at one point ending up stopped at an intersection right outside a bar where there were a bunch of Harley guys outside. Well of course they’re all giving thumbs down and just being funny. Our whole group just ERUPTED with revving and burn out noises and whatnot. It was wicked. The best part was there was a motorcycle cop chilling on the corner, and he was just laughing and shaking his head. Big hug for that guy for being cool.

Fast forward to much later in the evening. Brenna and I are tired, and she has to get up for work early in the morning, so we leave Ion to get her home. Well while traveling down Water St., this guy who must have been obliterated drunk was driving down the WRONG WAY of Water. Water St. has two lanes going each direction, with a nice large median in the middle. I was in the right lane and in the process of passing a Taxi who was pulling off to the side of the road (either cause he saw this retard, or he found someone to pick up), and moron comes barreling at the car in the left lane. That car then proceeds to almost side swipe me from attempting to change lanes in order to avoid super genius.

I got in between the car on the left and the taxi, and captain drunk must’ve stopped, because I just saw an opening and bolted through it and got away from everyone. I REALLY hope that douchebag got what he deserved, though. Talk about almost a serious freakin’ accident.

And then, just to add a sprinkle of humor to the end of the evening, we’re on North Ave (another bar street), and this girl starts walking slowly across the street right near where I’m coming. Her friend, seeing me about to nail her, runs out a few feet then yanks her back out of the middle of the road, almost knocking her to her feet. I had plenty of time to watch all of this and still not be near them, so it wasn’t anything to worry about, but it’s still amusing to watch. Much more amusing than idiot drunk on Water.

So that was my evening. Now I’m going to take my contacts out and go to sleeeeeeep. Mmmm…

I received two test faxes from some random company in Wisconsin today to my 800 number. I’m not sure how they got my number and decided to use it as a guinea pig, but whatever.

Which reminds me, I also had a voicemail on my 800 number once that was from some “legal representation” of some client, who spouted a bunch of gibberish about open case number blah blah. I Googled the number and it was from Puerto Rico, and had some interesting stories about people getting ripped off. Luckily, I am not a moron and can tell when I do and don’t need to respond to random legality-related calls.

And on THAT note, the branding change of my business is going well. I have a swell guy working on a logo right now, which I’m looking forward to seeing. If things work out with him, we may be trading business to each other in the future, and I’m sure you can see why that’s a good thing. As for the new website, well, there’s nothing done there. I’ve been concentrating on my t-shirt website as of late, since it has the promise of some minor income (and it’s already ~65% done). So many projects, and yet I’m always whining about being bored. Ain’t life grand?

Speaking of life being grand, Aken has a girl again =)
